Jan Jacobus "Sonny" Silooy (born 31 August 1963) is a Dutch former professional footballer and football manager. His last team as a manager was United Arab Emirates club Al Shabab under 19. His most successful time as a player was in his period with Ajax. He won seven Eredivisie titles, four KNVB Cups, three Johan Cruyff Shields, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Champions League and one Intercontinental Cup. Silooy was born in Rotterdam. He played as a right and left wingback and he is one of the legends of Ajax, where he made his debut on 3 May 1981, playing over 250 league games for the Amsterdam club in two separate periods. Silooy also played for Matra Racing, Arminia Bielefeld,De Graafschap and the amateurs of GVV Unitas from Gorinchem. He played in the 1996 UEFA Champions League Final against Juventus, but missed a key penalty in the shootout which Ajax ultimately lost. I am a former AFC Ajax player currently working for the Ajax Woman’s team like a Assistant Coach with a UEFA A License. As a player, I have won the Champions League, Club World Cup, the European Super Cup, the UEFA Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, multiple National Championships and FA Cups of the Netherlands. I have obtained 25 caps for the Netherlands National Team. As a coach or director, I have worked for the Royal Dutch Soccer Federation (KNVB), D.C. United Washington DC ( Academy Director) in the Emirates Al Shabab (coach U19) and also at Sharjah FC in the Emirates (Academy Director) I have been privileged to learn from and work with two of the world’s greatest soccer luminaries in Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff and Louis van Gaal, and some of the greatest soccer players including Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Ronald Koeman, and Ruud Gullit.
